The SUN Bucks food program is renewed for Summer 2026! 😋 More than 3.5 million eligible California children will automatically receive SUN Bucks EBT cards that can be used to purchase groceries starting in June, and each eligible child will receive $120.   • State Superintendent Tony Thurmond and the CDE have partnered with the nonprofit SupplyBank.org to collect and distribute donations and emergency resources to school communities that experience situations such as the chemical storage tank emergency in #GardenGrove, especially for homeless students or students and families displaced due to the evacuation order. These contributions can cover hotel costs, along with gas cards, food, water, clothing, and school supplies. Donations can be made at https://lnkd.in/gDdyWntq.   • Under the general supervision of the Education Administrator I of the Professional Learning Support and Monitoring Office (PLSMO) within the Professional Learning Support Division and working cooperatively with program units and managers throughout the Department, the Education Programs Consultant will work independently to support the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Title II, Part A Program and physical education program requirements. Travel is required. Implement the vision, mission, and goals of the State Board of Education, the State Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the California Department of Education. Conduct FPM on-site and online reviews. Consult with county office and school district superintendents, federal and state program directors, and program coordinators to develop and implement the programs and activities of the federally funded Title II, Part A Program. Provide advice, consultation, and guidance regarding the Title II, Part A Program requirements in accordance with grant conditions and assurances. Provide and create technical assistance materials and respond to field inquiries to support equitable instruction. Utilize the Compliance Management Tool to convey findings and resolve findings of noncompliance. Utilize the Consolidated Application Reporting System to determine compliance with federal fiscal reporting requirements. Develop, conduct, and participate in professional learning, workshops, presentations and other information dissemination activities on the ESEA Title II, Part A monitoring program at meetings, conferences, and other venues on programs administered by the PLSMO. Promote educational techniques which are expected to improve student academic performance and promote student well-being through monitoring activities, trainings, consultations, and communications. Stay current on state and federal legislation. Write, review, edit, and otherwise prepare or process documents related to Title II, Part A, or other related topics. Review, analyze, and prepare reports regarding documents such as proposed legislation, statutes, and research. Prepare responses to all types of correspondence including correspondence for the signature of the manager and other executives. Under the direction of the Supervisor l of the Nutrition Programs Unit (NPU) 1 in the Nutrition Services Division (NSD), the Analyst II is independently responsible for administering federal and state School Nutrition Programs (SNP) including the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Afterschool Snack Program, and the Special Milk Program as follows: • Oversee application process and manage a caseload for SNP Operators. • Research and develop guidance and technical assistance materials for dissemination to SNP Operators. • Advise the NPU 1 supervisor and other team members on unusual and sensitive issues, research problems, and recommend alternatives to management for resolution. • Independently prepare letters, management bulletins, memos, and emails to communicate regulatory requirements and state and federal policies. • Coordinate and assist with the development of training materials and presentations for nutrition program conferences; attendance at conferences may be required.   • Working under general supervision of the Administrator in the Standards and Curricular Guidance Unit and the Director of the Curriculum Frameworks and Instructional Resources Division, the Education Programs Assistant/ Education Programs Consultant (EPA/EPC) will have primary responsibility for carrying out the following duties: • Serve as lead for framework development projects, instructional materials adoptions, and/or model curriculum projects for subject areas as assigned • Serve as staff support to the Instructional Quality Commission (IQC), Curriculum Framework and Evaluation Criteria Committees (CFCCs), Model Curriculum Advisory Committees (MCACs), and/or instructional materials adoption review panels • Oversee the workload of the development team of analysts and support staff for each assigned project • Serve as liaison to the IQC’s subject matter committees (SMCs) for each relevant project • Organize SMC, CFCC, and MCAC meetings, adoption trainings and/or deliberations, develop meeting agendas, and provide materials and support the effective functioning of the CFCC, MCAC, or adoption review panels • Participate in regular California Department of Education meetings, provide status reports as required by the division director and unit manager, and collaborate with other staff to address Department goals and initiatives You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.   • Today, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond visited Chamlian Armenian School in Glendale to learn more about the school’s science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)-aligned learning and heritage-based educational programs. Chamlian Armenian School, a 2025 California Blue Ribbon School, ranks among the state’s highest-performing schools that close achievement and opportunity gaps, as well as schools where students demonstrate especially high levels of academic success! Superintendent Thurmond’s visit is part of the CDE’s efforts to support heritage language programs and culturally responsive learning opportunities for students across California. Superintendent Thurmond is the co-chair of the California Commission on Holocaust and Genocide Education and has supported efforts to train approximately 5,800 educators on the history of the Armenian Genocide as part of the state’s History-Social Science Framework.
