The KHOU 11 Turn the Page campaign has begun! You can help make a difference in the lives of Houston kids by donating new or gently used children's books at participating drop-off locations (more than 150 citywide!) or by shopping our Amazon wish list. Every child deserves to be a book owner
About us
Our mission is to build at-home libraries for economically disadvantaged children in Houston. Our vision is that every child in Houston is a book owner. In 2012, Amy Barnes and Sandra Ahlhorn started off holding book drives in their children’s elementary schools for several years, motivated by the realization that many Houston children do not have books in their homes. Collected books were donated to a few local elementary schools with children in need. Books Between Kids was created when they decided to combine efforts and help build at-home libraries for children who may not have been able to get them themselves.

We're wishing the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo a happy rodeo season! The Show has a passion for supporting education for kids across Houston and has generously supported our mission with a grant of $60,000. In addition, the Trailblazer Committee dedicates their time and energy towards collecting and sorting books for us. We are so grateful to have their support in so many ways. We hope you're having a blast at the rodeo!

Brazos Bookstore is one of our community heroes who helps us collect books for Houston kids. Randi, their manager, was able to see their impact in action at a Book Celebration last week! You can drop off your own children's books at Brazos Bookstore or purchase brand new books for kids at their shop. We are so thankful for their support in increasing book access for kids across Houston!
