  • DaVinci Resolve 21.0.3 is now available. This update adds new retime ease priority modes, giving editors more control over how speed and frame curves ease in and out. It also adds configurable keyboard shortcuts for commonly used keyframe ease actions, so editors and motion graphics artists can apply them without opening additional controls each time. This makes repetitive animation work faster, such as easing multiple title or graphic keyframes throughout a project. The update also improves interlaced workflows used for broadcast delivery. Generator, title and transition durations now respect the number of frames set in preferences, transition durations are displayed as frames in the inspector, and audio and video remain the same length when interlaced clip segments are added to a timeline. Improved field dominance detection also reduces the need to manually override clip settings. This means editors working with interlaced programs can set durations and edit clips with more consistent results. For DaVinci Resolve Studio users, this update reinstates QuickSync encode options for older supported Intel systems, allowing hardware-accelerated H.264 and H.265 rendering on more computers. The update also includes the latest DaVinci Resolve 21 reference manual which includes information on the latest features and is downloaded with the installer. DaVinci Resolve 21.0.3 update is available now as a free download from https://bmd.link/77T9rf

  • Blackmagic Camera for iOS 3.4 is now available, adding more controls to Apple Watch, new remote camera management tools and REST API support. The companion app for Apple Watch now gives you control over lens settings, display options, focus, exposure, frame rate, shutter, ISO, white balance and tint. You can use the dial on the side of your watch to make precise adjustments without touching the iPhone, while a new Apple Watch widget provides quick access to the companion app directly from your watch face. This is useful when the iPhone is mounted in a rig or positioned somewhere that is difficult to reach during recording. Plus, Blackmagic Camera REST API support and the new remote camera manager make it easier to set up multi camera workflows. You can create and save camera lists, manually add cameras using their IP address and quickly load the cameras that are currently online. That means if you were making a series of production recordings across a venue or studio, you could create separate lists for different camera groups, then recall the required setup for each recording session. The new proxy clip manager lets you see how many proxy clips are stored and how much disk space they are using. You can delete all proxy clips at once, delete a clip together with its proxy, or remove only the proxy while keeping the original media. This gives you more control over storage space without accidentally removing the original recordings you still need. • Blackmagic Camera for Android 3.4 is now available, adding 4K HDMI output with audio, camera control from the companion app for WearOS and remote control via REST API. This means Android phones running Blackmagic Camera can now be used in more flexible production workflows, from camera positions that are hard to reach, to setups where the operator needs to monitor or control recording from another location. With 4K HDMI video output with audio, you can connect to external monitors, switchers or recorders while keeping a high quality image feed from the phone. WearOS camera control also makes it easy to start and stop recording from your wrist when the phone is mounted on a rig, vehicle, gimbal or other position that is difficult to access. The update also adds continuous recording pause, so you can pause and continue recording without starting a completely new clip each time, making it easier to manage longer shoots such as interviews, events or behind the scenes production. Plus, REST API remote control and the new Remote Camera Manager make it easier to set up multi camera workflows where multiple Android phones can be controlled, checked and managed from a central location. Blackmagic Camera for Android 3.4 also adds support for Blackmagic Focus and Zoom demands, remote support for Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, a new proxy clip manager and PCM audio option. There are also improvements to LUT handling on some Android phones, plus general performance and stability improvements. Download now from https://bmd.link/3YpFVX

  • Today we announced UltraStudio Express 3G, new capture and playback models that replace the older Thunderbolt based UltraStudio Monitor 3G and Recorder 3G. The new models are designed for high-quality broadcast use in all SD and HD video standards up to 1080p60. They have a wider compatibility with Mac, Windows and Linux computers that have USB4 or Thunderbolt 4 connections. The family includes two models, the UltraStudio Express Monitor 3G plays back to 3G-SDI and HDMI and the UltraStudio Express Recorder 3G captures from 3G-SDI and HDMI. The UltraStudio Express 3G family are pocket-sized and powered by their USB connection, allowing them to draw power from a computer battery. The UltraStudio Express Recorder 3G is an input only model and captures from 3G-SDI and HDMI in SD and HD. It’s perfect for live streaming using software such as Open Broadcaster, as well as archiving from old broadcast decks into popular edit software or the free included Media Express software. You can even record from game consoles! The UltraStudio Express Monitor 3G is an output only model, and plays back to 3G-SDI and HDMI in SD and HD. It’s the perfect solution for monitoring playback from popular edit software such as DaVinci Resolve. We know many customers have been waiting for the older UltraStudio Monitor 3G and Recorder 3G. Due to a parts supply problem we were unable to continue to build these older models so we have been working hard to design these new USB4 and Thunderbolt models that actually have much wider compatibility. While the new models cost a little more, anyone with an existing backorder can move their order across to the new model at the same price. UltraStudio Express Monitor 3G and UltraStudio Express Recorder 3G are available now from Blackmagic Design resellers worldwide for US$175, excluding local duties and taxes. • DaVinci Resolve 21.0.2 Update is now available for download! This update improves image switching performance when bypassing Color or Fusion effects. When using image processing bypass to compare before and after looks, thumbnails are no longer regenerated so switching stays fast and responsive. This update also improves H.265 playback performance on NVIDIA GPUs in DaVinci Resolve Studio, making scrubbing through these clips noticeably smoother when editing. This means editors working with long H.265 clips, such as drone or action camera footage, can review and edit projects more efficiently. In addition, this update improves text display when spell check is enabled, making it easier to edit and proofread Text+ titles. DaVinci Resolve 21.0.2 update is available now as a free download from https://bmd.link/K7duLc

Today we released DaVinci Resolve 21.0.1 which adds improvements for RAW image workflows and HDR delivery. In this update, improved DNG and Apple ProRAW decoding allows for more accurate color and brightness representation across different image sources and color management workflows. This means that when comparing images from different cameras or mobile devices, you'll see more consistent results and spend less time matching shots. In addition, H.265 HDR renders now include improved HDR metadata handling so exported files are more reliably recognized as HDR by compatible televisions and media players. This makes it easier to review and deliver HDR content from Windows and MainConcept H.265 codecs throughout the delivery workflow. For DaVinci Resolve Studio users there’s also improved reliability when using AI CineFocus, making it easier to use AI-powered focus adjustments to isolate subjects and create depth-of-field effects in post production. This update also adds support for Sony α7R VI ARW RAW stills and decoding of Affinity RGB 16-bit formats. DaVinci Resolve 21.0.1 is available now as a free download from https://bmd.link/7kAqWh.

  • Today we released public beta 3 of Fairlight Live which adds improvements and bug fixes including a new fader flip option which lets faders map to aux, matrix and mix minus send levels, new auto mixing for automatic ducking of talent, support for OSC and more. The new fader flip lets you map send levels for various busses such as aux, matrix and mix minus to faders so you can adjust sends using the faders and then flip the faders back to channel volume control. There is also a new player/recorder control row in the mixer interface saving set up time as it means you can arm channels for record or playback directly in the mixer rather than going to the channel control. This also gives you quick visual confirmation of channel states without having to open the channel controls. There is also a new auto mixer feature which automatically ducks talent on up to 8 channels. When you are working on a live event such as a panel discussion, you can now assign each panel member to a channel. When a panel member is speaking, the other channels automatically duck around the speaker so that their audio is clear. There are additional controls such as weighting the hosts channel to be dominant over other panel members if both are speaking at once, as well as the ability to pull down all channels in a single click. Support has been added for OSC which lets you control levels for personal monitoring, metering, AFV integration and talkback remotely. Plus there’s support for 3rd party apps such as Mixing Station for remote mixing control via tablets and BitFocus Companion for automating live mixing control. Configuration support can be found on the Blackmagic Forum. This update also adds support for ATEM audio channels to be presented as clusters so you can patch multi-channels with a single patch point. Additionally there is improved support for running multiple audio peripherals on Mac computers so you can link an ATEM switcher with 3rd party audio interfaces. Support for Apple MacBook built-in microphones has also been added. Workflow improvements include improved UI for the new show dialog, as well as a new channels dialog so you can add multiple channels simultaneously, including color coding and naming. Additionally you can copy and paste from the edit menu, and duplicate a channel next to the currently selected channel, retaining the same format. The cue player now remembers the last location a media file was loaded from, making it faster to load multiple sounds at once, plus support has been added for MP3 files. There are also general stability and performance improvements for the native StageVerb plug-in and the patching matrix. Fairlight Live Public Beta 3 update is available now as a free download from https://bmd.link/sL7uXb.
