About us
Big Picture Learning’s mission is the education of a nation, one student at a time. As a non-profit organization dedicated to a fundamental redesign of education in the United States, Big Picture Learning’s (BPL) vision is to catalyze vital changes in K-Adult education by generating and sustaining innovative, personalized learning environments that work in tandem with the real world of their greater community. At the core of Big Picture Learning’s mission is a commitment to equity for all students, especially underserved urban students, and the expectation that these students can achieve success. Big Picture Learning designs innovative learning environments, researches and replicates new models for learning, and trains educators to serve as leaders in their schools and communities. In order to create and influence the education of the future, Big Picture Learning must continually reflect on and improve our practice and research to provide the results to leverage our influence in policy decisions and educational systems at the state, national, and international levels. - See more at: http://www.bigpicture.org/about-us/#sthash.9KywEq4A.dpuf

Big Bang comes alive through the people who shape it—educators, students, leaders, and community partners alike. And now is your opportunity to make our event brighter by lending your voice! Now through February 13, we're asking anyone interested in presenting at Big Bang to complete a short form outlining their idea for a workshop. And if you need an incentive to make us better - your first workshop presenter will be able to register for Big Bang at half off, as will your second presenter IF they're a young person! Details and guidelines at https://lnkd.in/ePNCXhQs

Every year around this time, many of us - Big Picture Learning included - offer words of hope. Hope rooted in the promise of a new year. Hope anchored in the enduring words of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, hope feels a little harder to access. To read our full reflection on Dr. King, the importance of service, and our response to the events in the world in which we operate, please click through: https://lnkd.in/efUpS3Fj

Join BPL's National Director of Partnerships - Sonn Sam, Ed. D - in this important conversation around student interests, hosted by our friends at Bellwether. But let's be honest ... if you're going to be talking about student interests, you should really be talking to students. WE'VE GOT YOU COVERED! The true stars of this conversation will be Nathalie, Ly, and Delany - three current or recently graduated Big Picture Learning students. Don't miss out!
What happens when students’ interests drive learning outside the classroom? Join Bellwether for a powerful conversation with three students about how work-based learning — which allows students to gain experience in professional settings like internships, projects, and mentorships — transformed their high school experience and prepared them for real-world careers. Featuring: three current students and alumni, Sonn Sam, Ed. D of Big Picture Learning, and Bellwether's Kelly Robson Foster.
