Remember waiting 45 minutes for a render? Fillip Isgro does. In this clip from the CG Pro Show, he describes watching an image slowly emerge from pure noise, one pixel at a time. You'd stare at the screen wondering if it was going to work, then suddenly a face would appear and you'd know the render was going to be good. What's fascinating is that today's AI image models work in a surprisingly similar way. They're literally generating images from noise. The process is faster. The quality is higher. But the feeling is still the same. As Fillip puts it: "It's magic." • Last week to join AI for Filmmakers. There’s a lot of noise around AI right now. What matters is whether you can actually build workflows, make projects, and adapt your filmmaking process in a practical way. This is what former student and VFX Supervisor Erik Durst had to say after taking the course. If you’ve been waiting to dive in, now’s the time. 🎬 AI for Filmmakers Live + hands-on + project focused https://hubs.li/Q04hKyK30 #AI #Filmmaking #VFX #UnrealEngine #ComfyUI #VirtualProduction #AIForFilmmakers

We just hit Episode 100 of the CG Pro Podcast, and we couldn't think of a better guest to mark the milestone than Alvy Ray Smith, co-founder of Pixar. Alvy has a fascinating thesis: sometime around the year 2000, every media type, film, videotape, audio, quietly disappeared and became digital. He calls it the Great Digital Convergence, and argues it's the foundational event that nobody celebrated... and that it's the very thing that made today's AI revolution possible. "All facts became bits. Computers could then mess around in an infinity of bits and find the patterns there that nobody's seen before." If you work in film, VFX, or production, this one's essential listening. Alvy also breaks down what a pixel actually is, and why almost everyone has it wrong. 🎙️ Watch Episode 100 → https://hubs.li/Q04hx4J10 Edward Dawson-Taylor

Only FIVE MORE DAYS until our next Unreal LA event where we will be celebrating the start of AI on the Lot with a pair of amazing speakers working at the intersection of Unreal and some of the most innovative new tech available! Geoffrey Kater, owner and senior creative director at S4 Studios, will present on the integration of Unreal Engine into projects at the ICVFX Stage in Burbank. Joining him is Arvin Tehrani, CEO of Contrast Reality Labs, who will discuss the development of a custom, Unreal-compatible Gaussian Splat FX system using Houdini to simulate effects with splats. As always, light snacks, refreshments, and good times are guaranteed, so make sure to reserve your spot today at the following link: https://lnkd.in/g44xn4Cs Big big thanks to Jacqueline Cooper and Edward Dawson-Taylor at CG Pro and Cameron Kostopoulos with Fermata for being great partners in this endeavor!

I think AI filmmaking is entering a different phase now, where it becomes an additional paintbrush for those who know the craft. It involves: Less randomness. More intentionality. More cinematography. More control. The people standing out aren’t necessarily the ones generating the most… They’re the ones learning how to direct these systems. In our free webinar, we’ll explore some of the workflows and ideas emerging around: 🎬 camera + layout control 🧩 compositing elements ⚡ workflow orchestration 🎨 consistency in AI filmmaking Thurs May 21th • 12pm PT Free registration: https://hubs.li/Q04h3ls70 PS Chat GPT made this image for me...has anyone does a test between this new image generator and Gemini Nano Banana? I'm honestly a little impressed...? Not just with this image but in general when I've tested it with other image requests.

  • One of the more interesting conversations from this week’s CG Pro Show centered around Creative Technologist Fillip Isgro discussing AI removing people from scenes automatically. What stood out wasn’t simply the removal itself, but how convincingly the environment was reconstructed afterward. The broader implications started becoming interesting pretty quickly: 🎬 Gaussian Splats 🧩 virtual production ⚡ environment capture 🎨 AI-assisted cleanup and reconstruction workflows It feels like AI is continuing to move beyond generation and further into production infrastructure. If you want to explore where these workflows are heading, we’re hosting a free webinar this Wednesday covering practical AI filmmaking workflows, camera/layout control, ComfyUI, and production-minded applications. I just wanted to share the final sizzle reel for our AI for Filmmakers Cohort 3 Graduates! The level of skill and creativity involved not only in the final projects but also in creating new working pipelines in Weavy and ComfyUI was fantastic, and way beyond prompts. So help me share their work by giving their video a like/comment. :) https://lnkd.in/gHnHtJFf

  • One of the most interesting shifts happening in AI filmmaking right now is that access to powerful tools is rapidly becoming universal. Which means the conversation increasingly moves toward something else: craft. Not simply generating images, but understanding: 🎬 visual storytelling 🎥 cinematography ✂️ editing and pacing 🎨 direction and consistency ⚡ creative control This short piece touches on some of the broader ideas we’ll be discussing live in today’s webinar on practical AI filmmaking workflows and production-minded applications. 🗓 Thurs 5/21 • 12pm PT Register free: https://hubs.li/Q04h3dCr0 And if you'd like to see what our previous cohort created together: https://hubs.li/Q04h3JN70 #AI #Filmmaking #VFX #ComfyUI #CGPro

What a week at CG Pro! Looking back at the last seven days, I’m feeling incredibly inspired by where filmmaking is heading and the community we're building around it. A quick snapshot of what went down: -- Podcast Milestone: We hit Episode 100 with the legendary Alvy Ray Smith! (co-founder of Pixar and inventor of the Alpha channel). We also dropped a new CG Pro Show with Fillip Isgro from the Comfy channel full of LTX relighting, HDR and Agentic developing goodness. -- Project Work: Including an exciting collaboration with Adobe in their GenFilm Lab. -- We beamed into a college in Melbourne, Australia, to speak with academics and creators about how AI is influencing CG. The Biggest Takeaway: Its less of a debate, and all about how we choose to work with it. -- We also graduated our latest AI for Filmmakers cohort, and it was maybe the most emotionally charged graduation I’ve ever run. Seeing creative people at the top of the industry(Avatar, ILM etc) share stories that have been locked up for years and were truly meaningful to them, was a lightbulb moment and shifted my perspective on what this moment represents. Change is uncomfortable. That’s exactly why we started CG Pro, so no one has to navigate it alone. If you're curious about the cutting edge of storytelling, I’d love you to join us: -- Free AI for Filmmakers Webinar This Thursday, May 21. Register here https://hubs.li/Q04g1klr0 -- AI for Filmmakers Bootcamp Our next cohort is coming up fast on May 30, and we have just a few spots left. Comment or DM if you want to jump in! Wrapping it up with a piece of wisdom from Alvy Ray Smith on the Podcast, when asked about how to deal with massive change his advice was to "Engage!” Hope to see you Thursday!
