This prestigious recognition, presented by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation, highlights students who demonstrate outstanding leadership, service, and academic excellence. As a Coca-Cola Scholar, Andrew will receive a $20,000 college scholarship and take part in the Coca-Cola Scholars Weekend in Atlanta, joining a global network of changemakers dedicated to making a meaningful impact. Andrew’s hard work and commitment to serving others truly set him apart, and we’re proud to see him represent BASIS Peoria in such an inspiring way. Celebrating Excellence at BASIS Ahwatukee! We are proud to announce a remarkable achievement from BASIS Ahwatukee —14 students have been named National Merit Semifinalists, the highest number in the school’s history! This also marks a record-setting percentage of the senior class earning this prestigious academic recognition. Earlier this week, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) announced over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 71st annual National Merit Scholarship Program. These outstanding BASIS Ahwatukee seniors are now officially among the top academic performers in the nation. 🇺🇸 Their journey began with the 2024 PSAT/NMSQT®, taken by more than 1.3 million juniors across approximately 20,000 U.S. high schools. Semifinalists represent less than 1% of all high school seniors nationwide—a truly exceptional accomplishment. These students now have the opportunity to advance as Finalists and compete for nearly $26 million in scholarships to be awarded next spring. Historically, about 95% of Semifinalists go on to become Finalists, and around half earn the title of National Merit Scholar®. We are incredibly proud to announce that four BASIS Charter Schools alumni—including Sudeep Vattikuti (BASIS Peoria), Karthik Ainapurapu(BASIS Tucson North) and Nishita Karikatti (BASIS Oro Valley)—have been accepted into the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson’s highly competitive Accelerated Pathway to Medical Education (APME) program. Among only ten spots available this year, these students stood out for their academic achievements, leadership, and commitment to community health. With aspirations of launching nonprofits focused on health equity to conducting bioscience research and the pursuit of clinician educators, they embody BASIS’s ethos of intellectual curiosity with real-world impact. APME offers a direct route to an MD without a bachelor’s degree or the MCAT, shaving years off the traditional timeline while supporting a future generation of doctors poised to serve underserved and rural communities across Arizona.
