  • ✅ Free parking ✅ Light refreshments available ✅ Limited to 50 guests only Join fellow ATD Puget Sound members for an interactive, in-person experience focused on building capability-led organizations and making competency frameworks work in practice. The session will be co-facilitated by ATD Puget Sound’s President, Sherry Johnson Metz, who will guide opening and closing conversations to help participants connect, share perspectives, and ground the experience in the realities of our local L&D community and the challenges you’re navigating today. At the heart of the session, Acorn’s President, Keith Metcalfe, will lead a dynamic workshop exploring the shift toward capability-led organizations — why so many competency initiatives struggle to gain traction, and what actually makes them stick. Image Description: Event flyer for the in-person event. The text reads, "Skills in the Age of AI: Why Your Capability Framework Isn't Built for What's Coming. Speaker: Keith Metcalfe, President, Acorn. Speaker: Sherry Johnson Metz, President, ATDps. In-person workshop, June 10th, 2026, 4:00-8:00pm, Mercer Island Community & Event Center."

  • Don't forget to register for our next Tech SIG with Cassie Nii! In this 1-hour virtual session, we will explore where learning professionals fit in this new landscape and how we can start creating practical solutions that build on what we already do best. Instead of only consuming new tools, we can design useful resources, experiences, and supports that make our work stronger, faster, and more relevant. Together, we will look at how the role of L&D is evolving, what skills matter most right now, and how AI can help us create job aids, learning tools, performance support, prototypes, and other solutions that extend our impact. This session is designed for learning professionals who want to think bigger about their role and leave with ideas they can apply right away. Image Description: Event flyer for the Tech SIG event. The text reads, "Tech SIG. From Learning Designer to Learning Builder: Creating What's Next with AI. May 28th, 2026. 12:00 - 1:00 PM. Cassie Nii, speaker. More information: https://lnkd.in/gfmCWr3i." • We are thrilled to recognize Tammy and Cassie as our Q1 Volunteers of the Quarter! Since May 2025, Tammy has led 10 AI in HR Special Interest Group programs and Cassie has led 9 Technology Special Interest Group programs — both consistently attracting members and non-members alike and creating vibrant forums for thought leadership and best practice sharing. The topics these two passionate leaders have championed — AI in HR and emerging technology — are not only among the most timely and relevant in talent development today, but were also identified as top priorities by our members in the 2025 ATD Puget Sound Annual Survey. Their dedication, expertise, and commitment to our community embody the very best of what volunteerism looks like. We are so grateful for everything they do! Please join us in celebrating Tammy and Cassie — they have truly earned it! 🎉 — ATD Puget Sound Board of Directors Image Description: A flyer featuring headshots of Tammy Wang and Cassie Nii. • Last chance to register! Join us for the Tech SIG tomorrow with Jonathan Hill. Learners do not need every detail to learn well. In fact, too much information can reduce curiosity, risk-taking, and real problem-solving. Jonathan Hill will share how “start late, leave early” storytelling creates space for learners to explore, test ideas, and learn from consequences, just like they would on the job. Together we will look at how to build learning moments that spark curiosity, encourage iteration, and help people connect the dots without being hand-held. Expect examples, design tips, and simple steps you can apply to your next course, workshop, or performance support resource. Jonathan Hill is an award-winning learning designer who transforms compliance training into engaging experiences that improve performance. With over ten years' experience creating digital learning for the financial services, gaming, and SaaS sectors, he specializes in evidence-based storytelling techniques that deliver measurable behavior change. A regular conference speaker and active member of the Articulate Community, when Jonathan isn't building elearning courses, he's playing with Lego.
