An Unwavering Champion for Animals in Need

About us

For over 125 years, The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) has responded to the needs of animals and the people who care about them. In fact, we are often the first to respond. With over 1,100 dedicated volunteers and 120 staff members, ARL lends unwavering support to local animals, families, and neighborhoods. We provide outstanding veterinary care, adoption, and field services. We also confront the root causes of animal cruelty and neglect through special police investigation and advocacy aimed at strengthening the laws that protect animals. Last year alone, we served 20,230 animals in need Today, we increasingly focus on prevention and the impact we can have on more animals, keeping them out of shelters and in the communities where they belong. This ambitious call to action is reflected in our new vision for the future. Learn more about ARL at https://www.arlboston.org/our-work/about

  • This year’s snowfall and extreme cold weather led to a decrease in visitors to ARL, leaving some of our lovable pups waiting a little longer for the homes they deserve. But now, spring has arrived in full bloom—bringing fresh hope, wagging tails, and new beginnings. We’re excited to help create connections between our adorable animals and the families ready to love them. Take our fun matchmaking quiz, share your results in the comments, and then stop by to say hi to your soulmate this weekend! 🐾❤️ https://lnkd.in/eNWFdd23

  • It’s still Adopt a Rescued Guinea Pig Month! 🐹❤️ Donut and Wake-Up Wrap have settled right into their new home, quickly bonding with resident piggie, Munchkin, and receiving so much love and care from their new human sibling. These two found exactly where they were meant to be, but we still have so many small, furry friends waiting for a place to call their own!   Guinea pigs can make great companions for both first-time or experienced pet owners, however they require a bit of patience and a gentle hand. Wondering if a guinea pig would be the perfect pet for you? To learn more about caring for them and meet our available adoptables, visit https://lnkd.in/ethYjk8E. . . . . • Denise Saltojanes has built a career rooted in impact, from engineering and finance to supporting female-led startups. But her commitment to compassion extends beyond her work. A lifelong animal lover, Denise believes “it’s free to love” and brings that mindset to her support of the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL). Her leadership and generosity are helping create a more compassionate community for animals and the people who care for them. We’re grateful for her partnership. https://lnkd.in/giykun6w

  • Six years ago, we came together to help keep animals with their families 🏡🐾❤️ With your help, the commitment of our partners and community champions, and our dedicated staff and volunteers, the Keep Pets S.A.F.E. (Supporting Animals & Families Everyday) program was launched. The program was created to help keep pets with their families by providing services, including pet food and supplies, pet wellness events, and temporary pet housing. Six years later, we celebrate: 🐾 1,308,584 meals made available 🐾 6,019 pets and their families assisted 🐾 1,924 pets supported through 109 events 🐾 271 pets helped with temporary housing . . . . • Do you want to help shelter dogs in need in Massachusetts? The Animal Rescue League of Boston is looking for dog fosters across our three locations: Boston (South End), Dedham, and Brewster (Cape Cod). We are looking for households specifically without other animals, or where resident pets can be kept separated from foster dogs. We have a shortage of foster homes that are able to accommodate the large dogs (between 40-80lbs) in our care that need it most. Dogs may require foster for many reasons, including medical treatment, behavior support, or due to an ongoing animal cruelty investigation. This is an incredible opportunity to help dogs in your community with the support of an organization that will provide medical care, training, and supplies at no additional cost. We are willing to work with your schedule and there is no experience necessary. All you need to do is apply online at https://lnkd.in/ewRwW_zN to get started! 🐾 . . . .
