This week’s #𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 shines the spotlight on Peter Folmer Hansen, author of “𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: 𝗔 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.” He shared a bit about his motivation & writing experience with us. 𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸—𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗻𝗼𝘄? “After 20+ years working hands-on with #masterdata, I realized something was missing. I had shelves full of books explaining concepts and terminology really well. But when you’re sitting in the middle of: • unclear ownership • fragmented systems • poor data quality • ERP implementations under pressure • AI initiatives are struggling because the data foundation is weak I lacked a practical guide focused on how to actually solve the problems. So I decided to clear two years from my calendar and capture what I’ve learned: not as a theoretical textbook—but as a practical reference guide and toolbox built from real-world experience. It’s based on real experience—from working as an internal master data manager to advising companies across industries—so the focus is on the recurring challenges in real organizations. However, something interesting happened in the process: It sharpened me as a consultant while I gained clarity on what truly works—what does not—and why—in real organizations. And honestly, it’s more relevant now than ever. Companies are investing heavily in #AI, #automation, and #digitaltransformation—but many skip the most important step: getting the data foundation right. Because the reality is simple: Bad data = bad AI The book also explores how AI can actually improve data quality, governance, and analysis—when used wisely and responsibly.” 𝗤: 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀” 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? “Because most organizations focus too heavily on just one area: Usually the systems. But successful #MasterDataGovernance depends on three interconnected gears: ⚙️ Master Data defines your data structure, standards, definitions, business rules, lifecycle, quality, and compliance. ⚙️ Systems defines the data architecture, integrations, migration strategy, data flows, lineage, and platform support. ⚙️ Organization defines ownership, roles, responsibilities, governance processes, policies, and decision-making to ensure accountability and a strong data culture. If one changes, the others must adapt. That’s why many initiatives struggle: they try to fix one gear without adjusting the others. I often compare it to making coffee: • Master Data = the beans • Systems = the machine • Organization = the people & recipe Good coffee only happens when all three work together.” More in comments. ⬇️ 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸: https://lnkd.in/ekTyEZTv #DataGovernance #MDM #ERP #DataQuality #DigitalTransformation #SAP #MicrosoftDynamics365 #BusinessTransformation

I am 💢 SUPER EXCITED 💢 to announce that my book titled Databricks Data Intelligence Platform: Powering the Agentic Era will be released on May 31. https://lnkd.in/gYeYsmQH My words are not enough. Thank you to everyone whose quote made it into the book 🥰 Three executives from Databricks and 12 Databricks MVPs - gathering the quotes alone was a mission impossible!! Not to mention catching up with the ever-changing Databricks platform, all while the features were in Beta. But don't worry, by June everything will be GA!! 🧞♂️ Then you can deploy the book - I mean, the content of the book - into production!! If you're writing a book, I totally recommend you consider a launch event. I organized a book launch party last month to celebrate the release of 𝑫𝒂𝒕𝒂 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕 𝑫𝒓𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓 🚚, and I am very happy with the results. I had spent a year and a half writing the book (months of solitary work at home and at libraries), so I wanted to finally get it out and celebrate with family and friends. If you plan to organize one, here are some tips you can follow from what I learned organizing mine: - Start planning after the manuscript is done (I had about two months) - Rent a space or use your backyard! - Invite people who matter to you, not just professional contacts - Thank people in person and in front of everyone—those who helped you in the process, and those who came to the event - Add activities beyond just talking about the book (quiz, interactive elements, things for kids if families are coming) - Hire someone to take photos so you can be fully present instead of documenting As a plus, we also baked cookies in the shape of the book-cover truck 🚚 (as you can see in the image) and a cake to celebrate, which was a surprise to me! If you are interested in reading more, I created a longer article about it that includes additional photos from the event, which you can find in the comments.

This week’s #𝗙𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 shines the spotlight on Andre Milchman, author of “𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲𝘀: 𝗔 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.” The 𝘗𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘋𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘔𝘰𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘯 𝘌𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴 presents a systemic approach to #enterprisearchitecture that helps organizations design coherent, adaptive, and purpose-aligned sociotechnical systems. Centered on nine core constructs—Purpose, Value, Function, Process, Structure, Order, Culture, Memory, and Storage—the book guides architects and technology leaders in building resilient, scalable units that integrate human, organizational, and digital elements. Combining theory with practical implementation models and real-world patterns, it offers a structured method for aligning strategy, operations, and technology in today’s complex, fast-changing environments, enabling the creation of systems that are not only efficient but also adaptable and driven by clear purpose. 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲: “Working with Apress has been a genuinely collaborative experience. They gave the project room to grow while offering thoughtful guidance at every stage. Excited to have presented at Open Source Summit North America 2026 this week hosted by The Linux Foundation, discussing the future of AI-driven software delivery, governance, and autonomous operations in enterprise systems. Huge thanks to my brilliant co-presenter Sujitha Vummaneni, for sharing the stage with me and making this session such a success! A special highlight from the session was revealing our upcoming book with Apress: CI/CD as a Control System: Designing Cloud, DevOps, and DevSecOps Platforms for Scale, Stability, and Speed co-authored with Sujitha Vummaneni Special thanks to MIGNONA COTÉ for foreword. One idea that sparked a lot of discussion was viewing modern software delivery through the lens of control theory. As AI becomes increasingly embedded into delivery systems, CI/CD platforms are evolving beyond static automation into adaptive operational systems driven by telemetry, feedback, and policy-aware decision making. That starts to resemble Classic control theory: • Telemetry becomes feedback • Policies become constraints • Pipelines become actuation systems • AI becomes the decision layer • Governance becomes system stability The challenge for enterprises is no longer just accelerating deployments. It’s designing systems that remain stable, observable, governable, and accountable as operational decision-making becomes increasingly autonomous. Grateful for the opportunity to speak and thankful to the Continuous Delivery Foundation for fostering conversations around the future of software delivery and platform engineering. Excited for what’s ahead. TFiR #OpenSourceSummit #LinuxFoundation #CDFoundation #Apress #DevOps #PlatformEngineering #AI #CICD #AIOps #DevSecOps #EngineeringLeadership
