Our #AI Impact Benchmark for T-Mobile US is now out! This looks at how the "Un-carrier" is seeing the results of its AI strategy - and how that stacks up against its primary rivals Verizon and AT&T. We highlight the differences in its vision for AI in relation to network and operations, and identify the key future signals that its strategy is paying off. This 14-page in-depth analysis by Patrick Kelly is part of our comprehensive research to assess the real business value of AI spending by the world's leading telcos. Our new #AI Impact Benchmark report goes deep on Verizon, assessing the effect of its AI strategy on operating costs and revenue growth. Our ranking may see Verizon just about neck-and-neck with T-Mobile USA on AI impact, but with quite different strategic framing for their program - a fascinating contrast which this report highlights. As the focus of AI in Telecom #networks and operations moves from pilots to scaling up, proof that the investment in AI delivers meaningful results will be keenly anticipated. Our AI Impact Benchmark for each operator lists the key signals to watch for, for evidence of progress. This report includes a summary comparison of our AI Impact benchmarks across the US "Big Three" - Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile USA. By Patrick Kelly[subscription required] https://lnkd.in/eP3t_zAS

The US "big three" telcos - AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile - are all investing heavily on #AI in for #networks and #operations, but have distinct approaches and goals. In a major new comparative analysis, Patrick Kelly compares, contrasts and quantifies how these three US giants stack up when it comes to seeing AI's impact on the two essential business metrics that really matter for all telcos: costs and revenue. Robert Curran discusses #knowledge, #agentic and #automation with Dale Skeen at Vitria Technology, Inc. https://lnkd.in/ez9TXTk2
[podcast] #Knowledge is what's needed to go from having #data to taking the right actions. It's an essential component in scaling up #agentic telco operations - but often not well understood. In our latest #podcast, I talk to Vitria Technology, Inc. CTO and cofounder Dale Skeen about the vital role of a #semantic #knowledge plane - and how to build one in 100 days. We also talk about FutureNet World, #guardrails, #LLMs, #explainable AI, #AGI (briefly), #knowledgegraphs and #trust. Half an hour with a real expert on a key topic (and me). #MTTR #automation #ontology #AIOps Find the audio-only version on Apple podcasts, Spotify, etc - look for The Appledore Research Podcast. https://lnkd.in/ehkCqBEf

Francis Haysom talks with Wavelo ‘s Bob Dietrich about how #telcos can overcome #data challenges…recorded at FutureNet World London
In a quick chat at the recently concluded FutureNet World 2026, Director of Solutions Engineering at Wavelo, Bob Dietrich, spoke to Principal Analyst of Appledore Research, Francis Haysom, on the critical role of real-time, contextual data and ontology-driven architectures in enabling trusted, autonomous network operations. They also delve into: - What is the real "elephant in the room" when it comes to recent unsuccessful AI deployments - The importance of contextual data, and why autonomous operations remain a theoretical nice-to-have without it - Why AI rollouts should put human teams at the center and how contextual data supports them in their role - How telcos can ease in this shift towards a consolidated data layer across systems - Other factors in the telco organizational approach that are key to seeing AI deployments take flight - How fields like security stand to benefit from a context-driven data layer that draws relevance from other systems Learn more: www.wavelo.com #Wavelo #FutureNetWorld #FutureNet2026 #FreeYourData #EventDrivenArchitectures

The #Service #Assurance market is undergoing a generational transition right now, with historical market leadership spots up for grabs. In recent years Amdocs has grown its market footprint substantially, and invested in building a state-of-the-art assurance portfolio, leveraging its substantial #AI R&D effort. In our view, it can truly back claims of being an #agentic assurance solution. In a new 10-page profile, Patrick Kelly looks at Amdocs' Service Assurance portfolio in-depth with comments on competitive standing, strengths and limitations. We've been tracking the progress of the leading #hyperscalers (Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, Microsoft) plus NVIDIA for evidence of needle-moving impact of #AI in #telecom. Suffice to say that the narratives are running well ahead of the proof points, thus far. That is not to deny the strategic significance or potential, but as our other recent research indicated, #telcos have high expectations on near-term #ROI from investment in #AI. Right now, the gap between expectation and evidence seems pretty wide, at least for anything beyond promising PoCs. In a new report, Patrick Kelly surveys and analyses the available evidence (from telcos such as BT Group, MasOrange, Telefonica, Telstra, Vodafone, SoftBank Group Corp., T-Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, Rogers Communications, Singtel, AT&T) revealing the distinct locus that each hyperscaler now occupies in telecom - and highlighting the evidence deficit for lofty announcements about the impact of spending on #AI by telcos.
