TUESDAY TIP: If you're planning to attend a Memorial Day parade, prepare in advance! Like any large gathering, a parade can quickly feel overwhelming for an autistic or neurodivergent individual. Our team at Anderson Center Consulting and Training feels that preparation is the key to any successful outing. *Talk about what might occur at the parade, such as bands playing music and fire trucks with lights and sirens. *Don't forget your sensory kit - particularly noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs! *Find a quieter place to watch the parade, further away from "downtown crowds" if possible. *Park in a location where you can easily leave the vicinity if you need to do so quickly.
