  • The International Energy Agency’s Global Critical Minerals Outlook 2025 shows some interesting insights on the critical mineral industry dynamics. Here are the top five: 𝟭. 𝗥𝗮𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀: Demand for lithium, nickel, cobalt, graphite, and rare earths rose 6–30% in 2024, driven by clean energy and EVs. Yet oversupply from China, Indonesia, and the DRC cut prices sharply—e.g. lithium fell over 80% since 2023. 𝟮. 𝗥𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀: Refining and processing of key minerals have become increasingly concentrated, with China and Indonesia dominating. The top three refining nations now control about 86% of supply. Recent export restrictions—especially from China—on minerals like gallium, germanium, scandium, and rare earths have amplified concerns about supply security. 𝟯. 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀: In late 2024 and early 2025, China imposed export bans on 𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘂𝗺, 𝗴𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘂𝗺, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘂𝗺, among others. These materials are critical for semiconductors, defense, and clean technologies. Germanium prices had already spiked before the ban, reflecting heightened supply chain risks and the growing strategic importance of such niche minerals. 𝟰. 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀: Efforts to diversify supply chains are progressing slowly, with most new refining capacity still concentrated in a few countries. 𝟱. 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲: Governments are scaling up funding, partnerships, and traceability systems to enhance mineral security. The U.S., EU, Australia, and others have introduced measures to speed up domestic projects and build strategic reserves. 🚀 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻 At Anactisis, we recognize that the critical-materials transition is as much about 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 as it is about mining and refining. We believe the future of the energy expansion ecosystem depends as much on smarter data and stronger frameworks as it does on mines. Let’s begin the conversation about making your supply chain more resilient, transparent and strategic. 🔗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸?
