Nothing but next-generation sequencing drives this approach to minimizing off-target CRISPR cleavage. The concept is simple: by choosing the least active Cas9 variant that still efficiently cuts your target site, you can reliably minimize off-target cleavage. Check out our post by guest blogger Balázs Csoma to learn how to select the right Cas9 from the Welker Lab's 17-variant CRISPRecise kit in only two steps. https://hubs.ly/Q048_TTM0

  • Every plasmid in Addgene's collection represents someone's hard work. When a researcher shares that work with the world, the community should be able to access that exciting new tool, as a fully verified construct, without delay. Delivering on that means continuously improving how we efficiently and accurately sequence what comes into our ever-growing collection. Our new partnership with Plasmidsaurus, a leading Sequencing as a Service company, is how we scale that commitment. Plasmidsaurus earned this partnership for good reason — they've sequenced over 5 million plasmids since 2021, delivering whole-plasmid results overnight with consensus accuracy that frequently reaches Q60 (one error per million bases). A single pass covers the entire plasmid, making it particularly reliable for constructs with complex or repeated features. If you haven't tried their platform yet, now's a great time. They're offering the Addgene community their first three sequences free with code ADDGENE. https://hubs.la/Q0485h120

  • When values align this well, you just say yes. Quality, efficiency, open science — and an appreciation for a well-drawn T-Rex. 🎨🦕 Here's to open science, fast sequencing, and more dinosaurs.

The team at Addgene clearly knows how to speak our language. 🦖🎨 If you’ve ever sent a sample to Plasmidsaurus, you know the dino drawing tradition! Our dropboxes have become mini galleries of community art. So when we sat down with the scientists at Addgene to finalize our new partnership, they came prepared with some masterpieces of their own. Beyond the art, this partnership is driven by a shared obsession: moving science forward with confidence. By pairing Addgene’s gold-standard repository with Plasmidsaurus overnight long-read sequencing, we’re helping ensure that reliable science isn’t just the goal, it’s the baseline. 🧬 Two organizations committed to open science, working together to keep research moving. We’re honored to partner with a team that values discovery (and a well-drawn T-Rex) as much as we do. 🦖

  • Every day, researchers around the world are developing and sharing exciting new tools. Making sure those materials are verified and available to the scientific community as quickly as possible is at the heart of what we do. Today we're excited to announce our new partnership with Plasmidsaurus — a four-year commitment to scale how we sequence and verify what comes into our ever-growing collection. Plasmidsaurus, a leading Sequencing as a Service company, will handle the majority of Addgene's whole-plasmid sequencing using long-read sequencing technology. Addgene will continue to perform the rigorous QC and analysis our community knows and trusts. Read the full announcement: https://hubs.la/Q0482vsY0

  • This is exactly why we created the Blue Flame Award! To celebrate labs that make open science real. So proud to recognize this team for their commitment to sharing their work with the community.

Grateful to have received the Blue Flame Award from Addgene with this amazing team! 🔥 We’re deeply committed to open science — sharing the ocnstructs we develop so they can travel far beyond our lab benches and be widely used, thanks to Addgene. Huge thanks to all serial cloners from my fantastic team — past and present — for making shared science happen, and to Addgene for keeping the science flowing (and glowing 🔥)! #OpenScience #Addgene #BlueFlameAward #HappyDepositor IRIM Institut de Recherche en Infectiologie de Montpellier, University of Montpellier, CNRS

  • We love seeing the CellCousin plasmids making their way to labs around the world! Thank you for depositing these tools and making them accessible to the research community — open reagent sharing like this is what accelerates science. And nice T-shirt!

Grateful to Addgene for supporting the research community and for the awesome plasmid-themed T-shirt! Our plasmids from the CellCousin zebrafish model, which enables partial ablation using improved NTR2.0 followed by lineage tracing, have been available on Addgene since the posting of our bioRxiv preprint. It has been great to see these tools shared with laboratories around the world. https://lnkd.in/gF9uzMXt Thank you to Addgene for making open reagent sharing possible and helping accelerate discovery. • Choosing the right AAV serotype is an important step in designing successful in vivo experiments — since tropism can vary widely across tissues and applications. Addgene’s AAV Packaged on Request service offers multiple serotypes, including AAV9, giving researchers more flexibility for CNS, cardiac, and muscle delivery work. With Packaged on Request, you can select your preferred cargo plasmid, serotype, and volume, and receive QC’d viral prep backed by the same stringent standards as our in-stock preparations. Interested in how different serotypes perform across tissues? Read more in our blog: https://hubs.la/Q042S6cy0

Addgene was pleased to host Steve Owens, Katherine Tolley from Representative Owens’ office, Griffin Tighe from Speaker Pro Tempore Kate Hogan’s office, and Anne Mazzola from Senator Will Brownsberger's office last week. During their visit, we had the opportunity to introduce Addgene’s mission, highlight our role in advancing scientific research through material sharing, and offer a look inside our laboratory operations. We are thankful for their visit and for their interest in the work being done across Massachusetts to strengthen the life sciences ecosystem and support innovation.
