What happens after an AI chatbot gives farming advice? We spoke with 450 Kenyan farmers using Digital Green’s FarmerChat to understand what drives trust, adoption, and real on-farm behavior change. On Feb 26, Ellie Turner and Tetyana Zelenska are sharing the findings — and what they mean for anyone building, funding, or evaluating AI-powered advisory. Register here: https://lnkd.in/ehNmUrkz

What does off-grid energy access mean for customers in rural Sub-Saharan Africa? We spoke with over 5,000 people across seven countries to find out. 4 in 5 are accessing this kind of energy service for the first time. 94% say it fully meets their needs. Two-thirds report significant quality of life improvements, and over half say they feel better prepared for future climate shocks. There's also clear signal on what needs attention, from unresolved product issues to the untapped potential of productive use. Explore the full report: https://lnkd.in/ekjFYK5e

Safe, stable housing can have a holistic impact on families and children in poverty. A recent survey of clients of Habitat El Salvador found that its credit products for home improvement and construction finance, along with supportive services, had positive ripple effects on household security, climate resilience, and children’s wellbeing. Global Partnerships and Hábitat El Salvador are working together to turn data from that 60 Decibels survey into business intelligence for strengthening Hábitat El Salvador’s product innovation, value proposition, and impact on poverty. AI-powered farm advice is spreading fast — but consistent usage and impact remain context-dependent. In our upcoming webinar, 60 Decibels’ Head of Agriculture Ellie Turner will be joined by Tetyana Zelenska (Director of MEL, US) of Digital Green to unpack what we’re seeing across the AI advisory ecosystem — and to share findings from our recent study with 450 Kenyan farmers using Digital Green’s FarmerChat. Together, they’ll explore: > When farmers trust AI > What drives real changes in farming practices > How to assess “meaningful use” — not just uptake FarmerChat now reaches nearly 600,000 farmers across 120 countries. What can the sector learn from what’s working? Join us: https://lnkd.in/ehNmUrkz

We first partnered with Excelsia Injury Care in 2023 to understand the patient journey across their Mid-Atlantic care centers. This year, we expanded the work to include their Western region as the network has grown. The results are strong: an NPS of +85, 9 in 10 patients reporting improved health, and nearly 8 in 10 saying they can better work or resume daily activities after treatment. What stands out is how Excelsia is using this data—not just to benchmark, but to keep sharpening what patient-centric care looks like across their network. New in ImpactAlpha: How AI-enabled feedback is helping fintechs move beyond access metrics to measure what actually matters—whether lives are improving. We partnered with Bkaya to run AI-powered client interviews across Mexico. 72% of clients reported improved quality of life, nearly 3x our global fintech benchmark. The impact was even stronger for women (92%). Bkaya is already acting on the findings, re-prioritizing their product roadmap to reduce operational friction and improve problem resolution for clients. Index insurance can help smallholders manage climate risk—but only if it's designed around how farmers actually access services. A new SCBF report explores what's working across five case studies in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The through line: insurance works best when bundled with other services and delivered through partners farmers already trust. The report draws on project data, interviews, and 60 Decibels impact performance data. Worth a read if you're working on climate resilience or agricultural finance: https://lnkd.in/dy_st_uX

What do coffee farmers actually think about getting paid digitally? We interviewed 254 farmers in Ethiopia's Oromia region after six cooperatives within the Oromia Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Union piloted a shift from cash to bank transfers during the 2024 season. 82% prefer bank transfers for future payments. They value the safety, convenience, and time savings. Although farmers may expect to receive their payments a few days earlier than they currently do, most find the payment timeliness to be good–an outcome of clear expectation setting from cooperatives. But farmers were also clear about what still needs work in the payment ecosystem: faster processing, more bank branches, and reliable cash access when they need it. The full report digs into what's working, what's not, and what farmers say matters most as digital payments scale across coffee value chains in Ethiopia. Explore it here: https://lnkd.in/epWv__5Z A big thank you to everyone who made these insights possible: Cooperative Bank of Oromia, Better Than Cash Alliance, Dejene Dadi, Tripti Singh, Malavika Rangarajan, Jacob Thamarappally, Gopika Suraj Rao, Isaac Yator
