A crisis may arise at any time and at any moment while managing multiple cases, requiring a high degree of flexibility from case managers to handle such situations. In this context, I would like to emphasize the importance of having an effective supervision model, which allows case managers to access immediate help and support when needed.

It is inevitable a crisis may come up on your caseload, so preparation is key. I recommend during supervision, practitioners establish a plan of action for crisis and a backup plan for other client appointments/needs, so there is no additional pressure or stress while managing the client in crisis. Managing crisis situations takes practice. Social workers must outwardly remain calm, listen to what is happening and assess the situation, then take appropriate action. #Preparation #practice #calm #assess #take appropriate action.

The adage of don’t suffer in silence seems to resonate with me when considering this prompt. It is good to communicate early and often to help alert others to your needs.
