If my speaking skills, expertise, or knowledge are questioned by an audience, I would handle the situation with confidence, professionalism, and a composed mindset. I will follow a distinct approach of being composed and calm and acknowledging their perspective without being defensive. I would humbly ask to specify their doubts, as this not only gives me time to reflect but also helps address their exact issue. I will try to support my expertise with cogent reasons and examples to substantiate my point of view. If appropriate, I’d invite other audience members to share their views, creating an open discussion rather than a confrontation.

If someone questions your skills while you're speaking, take a deep breath and stay calm and confident. Acknowledge and thank them for their question or comment to show respect. Then, calmly explain your experience or share an anecdote, example or story that proves your expertise without sounding defensive. Share any data or testimonials that you may have. Focus on the topic and keep the audience engaged by continuing your speech. Maintain eye contact and display open body language. Build engagement and get the audience involved by inviting questions or running polls. Being respectful, calm and confident shows the audience that you are in control and know your material.
