When a key client makes demands that seem impossible its oftentimes a sign of entitlement from my experience. However, there's nothing wrong with a client expressing their thoughts as long as they aren't using colorful language. I would recommend listening and writing things down but in these days you write everything in your notes. Needless to say it's not what you do its how you do it and not everyone is talented enough to take on the demands or creative ideas some clients come up with. I'm heavy on the " if you don't like what I have to offer I can refer you to someone who can!" Stay strong folks!
