Like in EPAM, you have something like a tracker which gives you enough information on the next role which you want to pursue, and what are the tools and technologies you are missing there. If you feel confident then you can move forward for the assessment and eventually get the level you want to achieve.

I prefer to assess my skills by comparing them to market direction, then focus on the code and tools that will be relevant tomorrow. I started by learning PHP & HTML/CSS then improving with frameworks and compilers etc. I wouldn’t do this now. I’d learn JS / React and specialise in development tools around it. I would also specialise in a low-code platform that is growing quickly and position myself as an expert.
