There is NO substitute to talking to people. Direct observation and analytics will produce insight volume, but are usually not enough to piece the story together. Conversational methods (f.i. interviews) on the other hand, have special attributes that help you to connect and understand users profoundly. These will expose you to 3 layers of information that won't be present at once in other methods: -What people tell you they do (direct account), -What they actually do (check account consistency) and - What they want you to think they do (read between the lines for expectations, self perception etc). This is a resource you can't afford to miss if you want to truly understand users.
