Here’s what’s worked better in fast-paced teams I’ve led: ✔One person explores a new tool each week and shares a quick demo or doc internally. It’s low-lift, but creates momentum. ✔We use a simple evaluation sheet for every tool: What’s the use-case fit? How easy is integration? Where can this break? ✔Training is built into our actual workflows. We use short Looms, inline docs, and contextual guidance—not scheduled meetings. You don’t need a training event. You need a system that makes learning automatic.

Here’s how I help my team stay sharp with the latest tools and thinking: Start small, learn fast We use short, focused learning modules and real-life examples. It’s not just about knowing what a tool does, but how it solves an actual recruiting challenge. Monthly “AI in TA” sessions We get together once a month to demo new tools, share wins and fails, and unpack what’s working and what’s not. AI champions within the team Some of our team members love testing new tech. We give them space to play, and then they teach the rest of us. It builds trust and speeds up adoption. Collaborate beyond TA We work closely with HR tech, analytics, and ops teams so our recruiters know how each tool connects to the bigger picture and the business.

In my opinion, the best thing you can do is hire people with well-developed common sense and continue to train it. This is where AI often falls short. If your people are curious and you give them time to explore tools in their journey, and they have common sense, it's done. How to train common sense is a topic for another day...

First and foremost: work with the right people. It’s incredibly difficult to shift fixed mindsets—so before hiring, consider whether the person is genuinely open to learning and adaptable to new concepts. That kind of curiosity and flexibility isn’t as common as we’d like to think. Once you have the right team, make the process engaging: embed learning into a real project. This makes it practical, collaborative, and far more effective than passive training—because you’re testing and applying concepts as you go.

Start by integrating regular training sessions that combine foundational knowledge with real-world use cases. Encourage participation in online courses, webinars, and certifications tailored to specific tools. Create a culture of shared learning through internal workshops or “lunch and learn” sessions where team members can present new tools they’ve explored. Pair this with access to sandbox environments for experimentation without pressure. Most importantly, align training with your team’s actual workflows so the learning feels relevant and immediately applicable.
