Change can be daunting. I maintain transparency by communicating openly about the reasons behind changes and what it means for the team. Building trust involves listening to their concerns and addressing them honestly, fostering a supportive environment

Facing significant changes requires a steadfast commitment to transparency and trust. I prioritize open communication by updating my team about changes and providing a good rationale behind each one of them. By actively listening to their concerns and providing honest feedback, I create an environment of mutual trust. Demonstrating empathy and understanding helps to alleviate anxieties and build resilience. Leading by example, I maintain a consistent and positive attitude, ensuring my team feels supported throughout the transition. My leadership in navigating change is a key factor in driving business success.

Imagine you’re remodeling a house while your family still lives in it: there’s dust everywhere, furniture gets moved around, and nothing feels settled. That’s what major change can feel like to your team. The key to maintaining trust? First, talk honestly about why the “renovation” is happening. Be clear on what’s being changed and how it’ll ultimately benefit everyone. Next, give frequent updates — even if you don’t have all the answers. Let them see the progress, no matter how messy it may look at the moment. Finally, listen to and acknowledge their concerns; it’s normal to feel uneasy when the walls start falling. By remaining open, honest, and empathetic, you’ll build the confidence to keep everyone strong during the upheaval.

During change, there is nothing as important as keeping the changes transparent and the people trusting the changes hence the need to communicate effectively and more often. Discuss the scenarios of change, brief description of the change, consequences of the change, and any anticipated results. Invite questions and answer them with candour. For example, during a restructuring program, I provided weekly meetings to note updates and clarify issues as well. Engaging the team in conversations also creates confidence to help in the decision making, and it also helps in recognizing them as part of transition.

Start by clearly explaining the changes and the reasons behind them to your team. Hold regular meetings to provide updates and address any concerns. Encourage open dialogue and be receptive to feedback, showing that you value your team's input. Share your vision and the anticipated benefits of the changes, helping your team understand the bigger picture. By demonstrating empathy, being transparent about challenges, and involving your team in the process, you can build and sustain trust even through times of change.
