Struggle isn’t a stop sign, it’s a signal. When we reframe challenges as signals rather than setbacks, we unlock growth. As coaches, our role isn’t to pull people forward but to help them navigate their own way. Motivation comes from ownership, not pressure. Are we guiding them toward clarity, or just pushing them toward progress? True resilience isn’t about avoiding struggle, it’s about learning to interpret it: - What strengths have helped them before? - What’s one action within their control right now? - How can they shift their perspective from obstacle to opportunity? Tough times don’t define us, our response does. The real question isn’t how do we keep them motivated? It’s how do we help them see they’ve always had what it takes?

The reason why you are their coach is to let them see that they have what they need to suceed within them. Seen as its already identidied that they are dealing with tough times and need motivation. I would start with where there at. What is causing them to feel this way. Then work backword then forward. Three years ago you were...... 1 year ago you were...... In the next 6 months if you tackle this..... One year you could.... Let them paint a picture of their future self and move things around in that reality, so that we can start actioning the now.
