Plus then you get to brag about some name brand design pattern you implemented and seem smart.

I use a design pattern to implement and demonstrate the functions that need to be implemented in an actual project. The benefits are presented based on actual cases. This method provides an opportunity to evolve one's mental model based on a design pattern. Recently, attempts to apply specific design patterns have decreased because it is more productive to implement them the way the framework suggests. However, to solve complex problems, the use of design patterns is essential, so developers sometimes need to practice design patterns by taking on complex tasks.

Es bueno poder reunirte con tu equipo y poder conversar del patrón que van a usar para el proyecto que están realizando, preguntando sobre como lo entienden te da un panorama de que explicar y que aclarar, esto permite que todos tengan la misma visión para que mas adelante no se demore el desarrollo, y también es importante que al nuevo personal que se incorpore al equipo se le pueda explicar como se esta trabajando y el patrón que se esta utilizando, así el proyecto no se ve afectado en su implementación.

We've developed a pattern design library to encourage the use of standard design patterns. This is a shared library with, what we call, "baseline design patterns" which represent a starting point for each pattern; to be customized for the specific context in which it's being used. Each pattern includes a wiki-style entry that describes how the pattern works, it's benefits, what to consider when using the pattern, and examples of how we've used the pattern in the past. Every team member has the ability to add additional context to the pattern library and suggest additional patterns. Patterns include interface, strategy, system, content, interaction, information and other categories of design.
