It is definitely a game of balance. If the company gets too greedy and pay too much attention to innovation, at the end, maybe the company will be able to create the most breathtaking product with no selling option. On the other hand, if the company remains silent and focus on keeping what it has, sooner or later, it will fade away. Therefore, the best strategy would be to keep the best working parts/business, focus on innovating painful to sustain parts/business. Keep each parties in the loop, do not overcomplicate things, make small but well thought and determined changes. This way, you can keep stakeholders in the loop and make them aware of what is going on. In addition to this, small steps gives chance to stakeholder to digest.

At the end of the day, the business needs to stay competent to succeed, meet the standards of the industry as well as stay ahead of competition. Identifying customer needs and aligning it with business goals as well checking up on your tech stack and technical infrastructure by bringing in engineers is crucial to evaluate whether or not we are ready to adapt and innovate. Once the need and goals are clear, then evaluation of tech stack, resources needed for adapting and time estimate for the implementation.
