Communicate: 1. With the people with whom you're experiencing conflict. Control what you can, let go of what you cannot. 2. With the stakeholders who are adding more to your bucket of tasks. Let them know that your bucket is full and in order to do justice to their expectations (demands), you need to be at your best self. Social workers aren't magicians. And neither are they work mules. So cut yourself some slack.

Burnout is very common is this field of work. We are working with individuals and their feelings, problems, and concerns. Feelings and empathy are involved for most in this field. However, we can only be as useful if we are practicing self care and boundaries. Boundaries and self care while at work may consist of saying no, not enabling, avoid bringing work home, and taking a break when needed to compose yourself. We must do our best not to take anything personal. What we do at home can also affect how we perform or underperform at work. Practicing self care at home is very important for my success at work. The better I am feeling, and the healthier my mental health state is, the better equipped I am to help those I care about at work.
