What happens with peer reviewing is that, whenever our code is in the development stage, it's very much recommended to get it peer reviewed before deploying the code to further phases. What happens with this is, when our code gets reviewed, some bugs/errors which could have come up in the testing phase gets minimized or the code quality can be improved/optimized. This also helps in collaboration and shared learning between the peers, enhancing the quality of both the algorithm and the team's collective skills.
