A few things that have helped me in the past, not only to keep software scalable at performance level, but at team level - Continuous improvement via conscious practice of “the craft” (testing, coding, designing… talking to other humans) - Set a baseline of standards. They’re not set in stone, but should help the codebase look like “it was written by the same people” - Adding more people to contribute to the codebase in a controlled way, so they have enough time to adhere to practices - Focus on the minimum deliverable, but also avoid extremely “hacky” solutions - Test in production whenever possible. Via feature flags, dark releases and other techniques you can get reliable feedback about your proposed solution. If it fails, turn it off

If you are aiming for scalability without limits - use Azure. It provides you what you need for a price without you re-inventing the wheel. All you need to do is stick to scalability rules (which are beyond the scope of this answer ;-)
