Encourage ownership by assigning decision-making authority aligned with responsibilities. Train for competence — confidence follows capability. Promote transparent communication, ensuring alignment without constant oversight. Recognize independent problem-solving to reinforce the behavior. Most importantly, lead by example — demonstrate trust in your team’s judgment. Autonomy thrives where there’s a balance of support and accountability.

It is important to educate team members about company's vision and how it relates to mission statement of the organization. If every team member understands how their individual productivity and work creates an impact on the business, then it serves as a motivation to the employees. As a lead or manager, individual objectives must be set in two perspectives for each member. First, every team member must be allowed to choose their own objectives. Second, manager must understand individual's skill level, experience, and set some objectives which are reachable. In this way, there will be a balance between what one needs to achieve, and what manager wants his/her team to achieve as part of team contributions towards organizational goals.

Clarify business objectives - Ensure changes are detailed be it minor or significant amount, and how it affects the goals in terms of time and revenue to the business. Adopt a mindset to accept language and cultural differences than assuming unilateral understanding.
