In my experience, a mix of open communication, structured check-ins, and support mechanisms (such as mentorship or better task management tools) can help. However, accountability remains key. Identifying the root cause and setting clear expectations can turn delays into opportunities for growth.

Investigate the problem in private meetings to discover the fundamental cause. You should establish specific timeframes and supply any required tools for the project completion. The project needs to be divided into smaller achievable components which require progress check-in points. Support the team member by providing training alongside adjusting their workload. When a team member experienced performance issues from unclear priorities in a previous team the workflow modification led to improved results. Keep documenting problems but create consequences alongside continued discussion with the team member. The proper mix of responsibility maintenance and assistance leads to schedule accomplishment without sacrificing worker motivation.

After that, SMART goals should be redefined according to the needs and expectations. Proper support or recognition should be provided, along with continuous monitoring of task completion.
