Burnout in life coaching is a real concern, given the emotional energy and deep engagement required to help clients navigate their challenges. Balance coaching sessions with other activities that replenish your energy. Taking breaks for hobbies or exercise helps maintain mental clarity. Like any helping profession, coaching is easier when you're consistently working on your own personal and professional development. Attend training, read, and engage in practices that nourish you. Also, staying empathetic without absorbing your clients' struggles helps maintain a professional distance, preventing emotional drain.

In a high-stakes profession, burnout can sneak up on you if you’re not careful. I make self-care a priority, scheduling regular breaks and time for reflection. It's about setting boundaries and recognizing when to take a step back. Connecting with my own mentors and engaging in continuous learning helps me stay grounded. I also make sure to celebrate small wins, not just focus on the next challenge. The key is balance—giving fully without losing yourself in the process. Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup, so recharge to keep the energy flowing!

Practise journaling and self-coaching daily in order to be aware of your inner life and to be able to show up professionally in the sessions with your clients. Be humble and know when to pass on clients to a colleague when your client's problems affect you personnally. Integrate 20 minutes of physical activity during your working day in order to keep a clear mind.

I'm a burnout coach so I have to walk the talk. Recently, I scheduled a webinar on burnout. However, life became a lot: Xmas, a stolen credit card (lost money, bank calls, epic forms, police report, etc), creating the webinar content, juggling clients' xmas schedules, etc. And I noticed I was feeling run down, flat. And then I saw a large bruise on my arm and two painful bruises on my hand palm. My palm?? So I posted a reel on my socials explaining I'm postponing the webinar a week, to look after myself. I need to bring my A-game to all areas of my coaching, including a free webinar. 1. Notice how my body feels 2. Focus on my nervous system 3. Notice my thoughts/stories 4. Remind myself of my values 5. Communicate boundaries 6. Laugh 😁

Establish Boundaries: Set limits on client sessions and work hours to preserve energy. Schedule Downtime: Plan regular breaks and time off to rest and recharge. Practice Self-Reflection: Use journaling or mindfulness to process emotions and manage stress. Outsource Tasks: Delegate administrative or non-coaching duties to lighten your load. Continual Learning: Engage in personal development to stay inspired and avoid stagnation.
