What I experienced in last few months of Project handling for automation industry : Staying updated with the latest advancements in robotics and AI can be a game-changer when it comes to meeting tight project deadlines. For instance, leveraging advanced AI tools to automate coding tasks in machine and robotics projects has proven to save significant time for our team. Here’s how I approach this balance: Ask questions like: How much manual work does this tool automate? Will adopting it disrupt ongoing tasks? Weigh the Trade-Offs: Introducing a new tool mid-project often requires an initial learning curve or setup time. If the overall benefit outweighs this initial investment, it’s worth incorporating.

I have found keeping up with the latest robotics trends and meeting project deadlines to be a real challenge. I have missed deadlines, and refactored code right after a major release causing users to refactor their codebase as well. Here are some tips that I have found helpful: 1. Prioritize incremental updates over major overhauls. This way you can incorporate current trends into a feature if it is gonna help the user. 2. Ensure that you are in a collaborative dev environment. Having conversations with your co-developers is a great way to prevent unnecessary features.

In my opinion, keeping up with technology while working on important projects is only achievable when the project itself is at a high scientific and technological level. For example, out of ten projects, nine could follow the routine workflows of the company, while one project could be classified as high-tech and cutting-edge. This would force employees to use new technologies. After completing one such project, the number of these high-tech projects could gradually increase.

To strike the right balance, sourcing plays a pivotal role. As a sourcing expert in robotics, I’ve learned that understanding the supplier landscape and aligning it with project needs can be a game-changer. It’s really about being smart with your choices—working with suppliers who know their stuff but are also flexible enough to keep up as technology shifts. At the end of the day, sourcing isn’t just about grabbing the latest tech—it’s about building solid partnerships with suppliers you can count on. At HowToRobot, I have the possibility to pull in our robotic engineers to evaluate if solutions are truly fit for purpose. It’s an amazing leverage because it ensures we’re not just chasing trends—we’re delivering what actually works.
