Anysphere, more recognizably known as Cursor, is an AI coding tool used by 30,000 developers, including programmers at buzzy AI companies Midjourney, OpenAI and Perplexity. Cofounded by four MIT friends, the startup has raised $75 million in total funding from Andreessen Horowitz, Thrive Capital and OpenAI startup Fund and was last valued at $400 million. It has more than $10 million in annual recurring revenue. The company is building a new type of "code editor" -- a "Google Docs for programmers," where engineers can write and tweak code -- that incorporates AI models like OpenAI's GPT-4 and Anthropic's Claude.
