Mazda is expanding its electric car lineup in China with a new SUV. The company teased the upcoming EZ-60 on its Weibo account earlier today. The EZ-60 is a product of Mazda's collaboration with Changan Automobile, and it appears to take a lot of design cues from the Arata concept shown at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. The teaser reveals a silhouette that closely mirrors the concept, and it has a sleek and aerodynamic profile.

The EZ-60 is a departure from Mazda's traditional internal combustion engine SUVs, such as the CX-60. Its elongated rear design is likely influenced by the Changan EPA1 platform. The EZ-6 sedan and the Deepal S07 SUV are based on the same platform, suggesting there will be plenty of shared technology and specifications. The Deepal S07 offers a glimpse into what the EZ-60 might bring, featuring a 79.97 kWh ternary lithium battery and a single rear motor producing 160 kW of power and 236 lb-ft of torque.

The EZ-60 will likely offer battery options similar to the EZ-6 sedan (called 6e in Europe). These could include a 68.8 kWh LFP battery and an 80 kWh NCM pack. The Deepal S07, available in China and Australia, provides a benchmark with a claimed 0-62 mph time of 7.9 seconds and a WLTP range of 295 miles. It is possible Mazda will introduce range-extender versions, combining a smaller battery with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine.

The new electric Mazda is likely to feature a cabin layout similar to the EZ-6, with large screens and premium materials, though with a distinct Chinese market influence. Mazda's teaser highlights the vehicle's ability to "control the wind," hinting at its aerodynamic capabilities.

The EZ-60 name is reserved for the Chinese market; in Europe, the vehicle will be called the CX-6e. The North American availability is unlikely due to its Chinese origin. Mazda Australia has not ruled out bringing the EZ-60 to its market, but its decision will depend on the growth of EV demand in the region.

Mazda is steadily growing its presence in the world's busiest electric vehicle market through its partnership with Changan Automobile . We can expect to see the car's final specifications and launch details in the next few weeks, but this short teaser gave us quite a promising glimpse of the new electric SUV from Mazda.
