I bought this to replace an older four-socket extension lead as my desk setup was starting to outgrow it. I recently added a couple of retro consoles and needed the extra sockets, so the six-outlet layout was ideal. I specifically chose this style because I prefer flat extension strips rather than the tower-style ones. I wanted something that would sit neatly on the floor under my desk without looking cluttered. The black finish also fits nicely with the rest of my desk setup.
I’ve used UGREEN products before and have generally been impressed with the build quality, which was another reason I chose this one. The strip itself is fairly lightweight but it doesn’t feel cheap or flimsy. I’ve had budget extension leads in the past that felt very light and fragile, whereas this one feels well made despite not being heavy. The cable length is also good. It’s long enough that you could keep the strip on a desk if needed, though in my case it lives on the floor underneath.
The USB ports are a really handy addition. I’m using the USB-C port to power my smartwatch charging dock so I don’t need to use one of the mains sockets. I also keep the charging cables for my keyboard and mouse plugged into the USB-A ports rather than using USB ports on my PC. The USB charging is slightly slower than a dedicated phone charger, so I probably wouldn’t rely on it for fast phone charging, but it’s perfect for lower-power devices and peripherals.
The socket layout works well for standard plug heads and you can comfortably use all six outlets. If you have very bulky plugs they might block the opposite socket, but that’s fairly typical with flat extension leads like this.
Overall this is a well-designed power strip that works nicely for a desk or gaming setup. If you want something very compact a tower extension might suit you better, but if you prefer a flat strip layout with some extra USB charging built in, this is a solid option.
