Jan 11 at 11:23 comment added Cadence Fun fact: the first patent for a nuclear chain reaction was issued in 1936. (It involves beryllium, which can't actually chain react in this way, but still.) Less fun, but still awe-inspiring fact: the Oak Ridge facility (part of which is pictured above) eventually employed some 82,000 technicians and plant workers, plus a further 10,000 support staff.
