Its 2 kilotonne profile was unlike both earthquakes and mining operations, and it left no visible surface crater. It's speculated that it might have been a nuke set off by the Aum Shinrikyo cult. (An alternative, and perhaps more credible, explanation is a large meteorite, though it has still not been found.) | |
