By the way thank you very much for the plugin and in depth directions for adding the validation functionality, aside from the capitalization it has been perfect for my needs.
Hello @lateralus821,
Thanks for your post. Probably, you are talking about typing data via mobile devices. Unfortunately, this feature isn’t added by Flexible Checkout Fields, but with iOS. So this is not dependent on our plugin, just the iPhones operating system.
Best regards,
Mateusz
Hey @mateuszwpdesknet,
Thank you so much for getting back to me, I appreciate it!
I know that this is a function of iOS but it’s happening because the html for the original email address field’s input type is “email” and the custom validation field’s input type is “text”. What I’d like to do is make it so that the custom field’s type is “email” rather than “text” so that way iOS doesn’t try to capitalize it. I should have explained it better like that before, I apologize.
Dear @lateralus821,
At this moment, we are not able to modify this element in the mentioned scope. The validation of the field is added to text input, so as you are writing, the string will be capitalized at iOS. We are now working on the e-mail field in our other plugin – Flexible Product Fields. When we finish adding this feature to that plugin, we will be able to copy it to Flexible Checkout Fields. It should be done in the beginning of the next year. So please, be patient, and wait for updates with new fields’ types. If you want, we can notify you, when we add it.
Best regards,
Mateusz
@mateuszwpdesknet,
Thank you so much for the quick response! Yes I would definitely like to be notified when that happens. Will it be part of the free plugin or will the premium version be needed?
Dear @lateralus821,
Okay, so I noticed this topic in our backlog, so if we add this feature, I will notify you. The email field will be part of the free plugin.
Best regards,
Mateusz
@mateuszwpdesknet
Thanks for getting back to me. Regarding the backlog are you saying that this feature isn’t a definite addition early next year?
Dear @lateralus821,
It is planned, but I added to this feature information, to notify you about releasing it. Stay tuned! 🙂
Best regards,
Mateusz
@mateuszwpdesknet,
That’s great news, thank you so much!
