    Hello,

Is there a way to reduce plugin size? I have very limited space for my website, and I found that vendors like AWS and Microsoft use more than 60MB. I need only FTP for my backups. Is there a way to safely remove the unneeded backup vendor and save space?

    Thanks

Yes, the plugin is too large AND there are too many files, it needs a major optimization / refactoring.

    Hi,

Thank you for your message, and we completely understand your concern.

We’re aware that certain vendor libraries (like AWS and Microsoft) significantly contribute to the plugin’s size, especially when only using basic destinations like FTP. The team is actively working on ways to optimize this and reduce unnecessary bloat in upcoming updates.

Really sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime — we appreciate your patience and feedback!

@saranshwpm Hi, I don’t think the reasons are the third parties libraries, because BackWPup (Pro) 4.1.x weighed about 8 MB (zipped) whilst the new 5.0.x is almost 17 MB (zipped)!

    Hi,

Just wanted to follow up and share that in our recent versions, we’ve made some improvements to reduce the plugin size compared to earlier builds

While the reduction isn’t huge yet, it’s a step in the right direction and we do have further optimization on our roadmap

For now I’ll go ahead and close this thread, but if you face any other issues or have more questions, feel free to open a new one anytime
