The Business Platinum Card® from American Express offers many of the same benefits of its personal sibling, including all of the great lounge benefits. If you regularly travel for business and aren’t set on one airline’s lounges, this card may be just the ticket.
Rewards: Earn 5 Membership Rewards® points per dollar on flights and prepaid hotels on American Express Travel. Earn 1.5 points per dollar on each eligible purchase of $5,000 or more. You can get up to 1 million additional points per year. All other purchases earn 1 point per dollar.
Welcome Offer: Earn 100,000 Membership Rewards® points after you spend $15,000 on eligible purchases with the Business Platinum Card within the first 3 months of Card Membership.
Annual Fee: $595 (rates & fees)
Other Benefits and Drawbacks: The Business Platinum Card offers one huge benefit that the American Express Platinum does not: It allows you to redeem Membership Rewards points for premium flights or any flights with our selected airline with a 35% rebate (up to 500,000 points a year). This effectively means you get 1.54 cents per point on American Express Travel for flights. Say for example, you use 10,000 points to book a $100 flight. You’ll receive 3,500 points back as a rebate, effectively making your point cost 6,500 for your $100 flight.
Lounge benefits is the other area where the Business Platinum Card from American Express stands out. Not only does it offer a Priority Pass Select membership, but it also offers access to the exclusive American Express Centurion Lounges and Delta SkyClubs when you are flying Delta same-day.
You’ll receive a $200 airline incidental fee credit, good for checked bags, seat selection and other incidentals on an eligible airline you select at the beginning of the year plus up to $100 to cover your Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee.
Finally, you’ll be able to book flights through the International Airline program and the Fine Hotels & Resorts programs. Both can offer discounts or extra benefits compared with booking directly. When you do stay at hotels, you’ll have access to Hilton and Marriott Gold statuses once you enroll.
This card also offers up to $200 in credits toward U.S. Dell purchases each year.
