  • OpenOffice is a great FREE alternative to Office 365 . I have use these programs for years and have always adored them. In my opinion its more efficient and easier to use then the Office 365 Suite. If you are looking for an alternative to that than this is the program for you!

  • Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 has way better font rendering than LibreOffice 6.4.3 – no matter if on Linux, macOS or Windows 10. LO messes up the kerning and as soon as you zoom the document, it gets even worse – not so with AOO. AOO supports even ClearType. I also like that the developers didn't change the menus. I used StarOffice and OpenOffice.org since it was available for free – thus mor than 20 years. Moving items in the menus from one place to another and renaming things just annoys me. What I would change in AOO for Linux is the scaling option: in AOO 4.1.7 the interface can be scaled only up to 130 %. As I have a HiDPI display, it would be fine if AOO could be scaled at least up to 200 % using the settings menu.

  • A very good initiative, keep it up.

  • I've been having problems putting the English version on. If I type a letter every word needs to be spellchecked like I'm in a Spanish version.

  • Make it very easy to write some business or personally reports or things.

  • Absolutely the bestest!!! Just the right amount of features, without being so esoteric as to be loaded with un-intelligible acronyms for rarely used features, which, upon spending valuable look up time, soon become forgotten. Kudos to the wonderful team of dedicated volunteers that make it happen. P.S. I did not rate Support, as I have never used it; but I'm sure it would be excellent. P.P.S. The download could include options for adding the icon to the Task Bar and/or Desk Top.

  • This is the best they could invent.

  • the software is just as easy, in my opinion, to use as microsoft office is. i was easily able to use and create templates for my business. i am very thankful for this amazing software.

  • It is a labor of love and it is clearly seen. Does everything its paid counterpart does but is better and free.

  • Lazy clueless coders with no regard for user security. This download is not digitally signed, so could easily be riddled with malware or anything. The only way to install this, is to disable your security - which opens you up to being exploited by other malicious programs as well. Go and get LibreOffice instead - that is properly signed, and is the same product anyhow. If Apache take such little care with the most basic and obvious security controls in this OpenOffice, just imagine how bad all the rest of the stuff inside that you cannot see must be!!! Avoid this, unless you like contracting malware. Details:- “OpenOffice” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified. macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware. Chrome downloaded this file today at 11:12 pm from sourceforge.net.

  • I think it is better than MO. The main reason is this being free of charge. But it has plethora of features and it is an open source. It does everything I want it to do and it is user friendly. Go guys!

  • It is superior to Microsoft Office. It has all the same functions but it is less buggy, has extensive list of supported languages, plugins and a team of dedicated developers. Definitely worth to support.

  • I love it and I think it is very a good competition for Microsoft. It does everything it is supposed to do and it is very user friendly. Do not listen to the malcontents just check it.

  • DO NOT USE!!! I have been using OpenOffice Writer to create a few RTF documents, and for months, everything was completely fine... But then, recently, for some reason, it messed up one of my files!! I created an RTF document about three weeks ago, and I kept adding to it, so it became pretty long, like maybe 15 pages (can't remember). I saved the document many, many times. When I write in documents, I have a habit of constantly saving the documents all the time, obsessively. I had my computer on for many days without completely turning it off (just putting it on sleep mode). OpenOffice Writer was open for all those days. I don't remember closing the program. I often added more words to the document. A few days ago, I completely turned off the computer, so all programs were closed. When I turned the computer on the next day, I tried to open my document in OpenOffice Writer, and it said "general input/output error." I tried many times, and the same error kept coming up. I can open other RTF documents in OpenOffice Writer, but not that particular one. Also, I can open the document in other programs, but not OpenOffice Writer. So for some reason, OpenOffice Writer has a problem with only that one document. And the main problem is, when I opened the same document in other programs, it's only 9 pages long. Part of the document is missing. The part that remains is up-to-date; all of my changes were saved. But everything after 9 pages is gone. I have tried various things to see if I can recover the rest of the file, but I can't. I even uninstalled and reinstalled, and the same thing happens. I really have no idea why part of the document is gone. It's very random and bizarre. There is no way I erased that part. There's no way I would have done it and not noticed such a huge change. Now, I just have to try my best to remember what I wrote before and create a new document in a new program. Needless to say, I am done using this program. I will never use it again. Thankfully, it only messed up one document, and I still have a few other RTF documents that are fine. Now, I'm scared to lose them, too, so I will just use another program to work on those.

  • Always happy with this OpenOffice, from the first early days it has always made a mockery of the Name to Beat ~ because in my opinion it always has. Thankyou to everyone involved for the past 20 yea rs work. Carl Dietryn carl@wooh.ooo
