Vienna's new museum for modern art
ALBERTINA modern numbers among the largest museums of modern and contemporary art.
The collection of ALBERTINA modern encompasses over 60,000 works by 5,000 artists.
The Künstlerhaus on Karlsplatz was constructed in 1865 and established as a gallery. Thanks to the patronage of Hans Peter Haselsteiner, this history-steeped building now shines in new splendor.

Three years of work went into restoring, modernizing, and expanding what has now become Vienna’s new modern art museum, and the Essl Collection forms the foundation of our collection of modern and contemporary art.
"With Albertina modern, Vienna will soon be home to a new museum of modern art where important works from the Essl Collection and from the Albertina Museum's most recent acquisition, the Jablonka Collection, will join the museum's preexisting holdings as a basis for major exhibitions."

The ALBERTINA modern uses its 2,500 m2 to present comprehensive exhibitions of works by important Austrian and international artists including Andy Warhol, Cindy Sherman, Gerhard Richter, Jonathan Meese, Hubert Scheibl, Jörg Immendorf, Arnulf Rainer, Neo Rauch, Hundertwasser, Annette Messager, Anselm Kiefer, Robert Rauschenberg, Kiki Kogelnik, Elke Krystufek, Roy Lichtenstein, Pierre Soulages, Maria Lassnig, Alex Katz, Sherrie Levine, VALIE EXPORT, Karel Appel, Franz West, Erwin Wurm, Georg Baselitz, Sarah Morris, Nam June Paik, Pipilotti Rist, Nan Goldin, Thomas Ruff, and many others.
