No frontrunner! No host! No Trump jokes, most likely! And, after the Academy walked back every chance to shave running time—including presenting four categories during commercials—no chance of finishing in under three hours!
This was the 91st Academy Awards and Deadline was there to live blog it all. Mike Fleming and Joe Utichi, alongside the Deadline staff, brought you all the action, and insulted one another to keep ourselves awake during a host-less show that struggled to set us alight. Still, there were some great winners here: Olivia Colman and Rami Malek won Best Actor and Best Actress; Spike Lee got his first Oscar for the Adapted Screenplay on BlacKkKlansman, before turning his back on the winners from Green Book, when that film beat out the seven other contenders for Best Picture.
