GNU/Linux Packages
Kdenlive packages are provided by most of the popular distributions:
Archlinux
For the latest stable version:
sudo pacman -S kdenlive
Debian
Debian-testing and Debian-unstable offer the latest version:
sudo apt-get install kdenlive
Unfortunately users of Debian stable are still stuck with 0.9.10 which is unsupported.
Fedora
Fedora users can download latest version from United RPMS.
Gentoo
Gentoo offers ebuilds for latest Kdenlive version:
emerge kdenlive
KDE neon
For the latest stable version:
apt install kdenlive
OpenSuse
OpenSuse Leap 42.1 and Tumbleweed offer the latest version:
zypper install kdenlive5
Solus
Solus provides the latest stable version:
sudo eopkg it kdenlive
Ubuntu | LinuxMint | Elementary
It is recommended to download the AppImage version until the release of Ubuntu 18.04.
Cross distribution packages
Several cross-distro packaging formats provide an easy one click install system for GNU/Linux distributions:
Appimage

Latest stable AppImage (18.04.1) is available here:
https://files.kde.org/kdenlive/release/kdenlive-18.08.0-x86_64.AppImage.
To install, just download the file and make it executable, ( chmod +x ) in a terminal, then run it. On Arch linux and derivatives, you need to install libselinux from AUR to run the AppImage.
Snap

Snap support has been dropped until maintainers are available.
Flatpak
Flatpak package can be downloaded from flathub.org thanks to the work of Peter Eszlari.
Refactoring Branch
You may download and test the experimental and unstable development AppImage of the Refactoring branch from KDE servers:
This should not be used in production and at the moment we cannot guarantee that your project file won’t get corrupted by using this version.
Windows
The beta Windows version can be downloaded from the KDE servers.
Now, you don’t need to do anything more to set up. To run Kdenlive, you just have to unzip the downloaded Kdenlive version, and start Kdenlive from kdenlive.exe in kdenlive-windows folder.
Mac OSX
Kdenlive and MLT can compile and run under Mac OS X. Packages are available from the MacPorts project, unfortunately they are outdated. Volunteers are encouraged to contribute.
Compiling and Installing
Most distributions ship Kdenlive packages. However, Kdenlive and its core libraries like MLT are evolving quickly and distribution packages are not always available for the latest version.
Check our documentation if your distribution is not in the list for instructions on how to compile and install manually.
