The Center for Internet Security (CIS) is well-known for its annual
list of the Top 20 Security Controls, but also maintains detailed
security benchmarks for a variety of systems.
In addition to these guides, the SANS Institute and Open Web
Application Security Project (OWASP) both maintain a rich assortment
of white papers and guides for the design and implementation of server
software.
