These crawls are part of an effort to archive pages as they are created and archive the pages that they refer to. That way, as the pages that are referenced are changed or taken from the web, a link to the version that was live when the page was written will be preserved.
Then the Internet Archive hopes that references to these archived pages will be put in place of a link that would be otherwise be broken, or a companion link to allow people to see what was originally intended by a page's authors.
At 2:30 PDT (sorry, we’re in California) two very peppy people at YouTube Studios in Los Angeles began screaming. And thus begins the “Global Toy Unboxing,” which is only 95 percent as terrifying a phrase as “The Planetary Reckoning”: For the next 18 hours, the marathon livestream will be beaming at you from locations all over the world—15 cities in 12 different countries—as people bring you the first look at dozens of Star Wars toys in advance of their synchronized retail releases on “Force Friday.” Whether you still have your Vader-head action-figure case or you’ve never even played with a Star Wars toy, you’ll be able to follow along. Get those indiscriminate consumption juices flowing!
Around here we rather enjoy Death Cab for Cutie (obviously). We also have a soft spot for old-school synth collector Tycho. Now those two forces have combined. That’s why, starting today, you can select Stephen Colbert’s voice in the Waze driving app. No, this doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert premieres in exactly a week. Why would you be so cynical?
