Since 1996, the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against
Women has supported programmes and services worldwide that benefit women
and girls. However, the demand for such resources
far outstrips the supply. In 2009 alone, the Fund—which relies
exclusively on voluntary contributions—received more than 1,600
proposals requesting total of $860 million. It could meet less than
3 percent of the demand. Act now to support
the Fund.
