3. How Do I Sign Up?
To sign up, go to medium.com and click ‘Sign in with Twitter,’ enter your email address and verify your email address via the link we send you. We’ll keep you posted about great content, new features, and let you know when we open up to everyone. Anyone can sign up and read and recommend posts.
4. When Will I Be Able To Post To Medium?
Medium is in closed beta right now (everyone can read, but only some people can post) and we don’t have a hard date set for opening it to everyone, but we will when we’re ready and we’re looking forward to it! We’re still working hard on the code and designing the product (a few users helps this process tremendously—a lot of users complicates it). But to be clear: Limiting access is not our approach to quality.
5. Can I Use Medium Without A Twitter Account?
Not at the moment. We might add alternate sign-up methods later, but for now, you’ll need a Twitter account.

9. What does clicking the ‘Recommend’ button do?

13. How can I link to my profile page in a Tweet.
We’re working with Twitter to make links to profile pages work. At the moment, if you add a trailing slash, the link will work: medium.com/@lukester/
14. Why do you need to be able to do all this stuff to my Twitter account?

Twitter offers 3 levels of access “read” (Read-only), “read-write” (Read & Write), “read-write-direct messages” (Read, Write, & Direct Message). Our application, and most other Twitter enabled applications, uses the middle level (Read & Write). This level of permission allows to us to enable following @Medium during the sign up flow, unless you opt-out of that option. We will also use this permission to power a Medium native Twitter sharing function which is currently under development. We won’t ever change your profile, send tweets you didn't initiate, follow other accounts, or do anything else nefarious to your Twitter account. Unfortunately, we aren't able to request Twitter permissions individually, it’s only by the levels established by Twitter. You can read all the gory details about authentication permissions on Twitter’s developer site.
