The Cloud Zone

Windows Azure is the cloud-based development platform that lets you build and run applications in the cloud, deploy them with relative ease, and code using multiple technologies and languages such as .NET, Java, and PHP.

The Code Project, in partnership with Microsoft, has assembled a collection of articles, tips, and videos to help you get up-to-speed quickly with the Windows Azure programming model and platform.

Learn how large enterprise firms such as Siemens and T-Mobile are leveraging Azure to build high performance, scalable, and secure systems and how you can leverage Windows Azure, in combination with your existing toolset, to realise the same benefits of cloud computing.

Other topics covered include extending your applications for Windows Azure using Visual Studio; the top nine benefits of cloud computing and high availability cloud environments. We’ll also conduct a deep dive into some of the key technologies associated with Windows Azure: Azure AppFabric, storage, and more.

Getting Started

This paper begins by asking just what exactly is cloud computing. We will take a high-level look at how cloud computing works and how is that going to make an impact to our current working environment. In the later part of the paper, we will take a deeper look into one of the categories of cloud computing, SaaS (software as a service).

This article looks at privacy and security in cloud computing, and discusses the business and technical trade-offs of these cloud options versus more traditional SaaS and other hybrid server approaches

A pro-cloud perspective that showcases the importance of SQL Data Services (SDS).

Part I of a general overview of Windows Azure in an FAQ format. Explores basic questions like: What does Azure solve? What is the cost benefit of Azure versus internal hosting? What are the actual costs?

Windows Azure, Microsoft's Cloud Computing offering, has three type of storage available: blob, table, and queue. This article will demonstrate a semi-practical usage for each of these types to help you understand each and how they could be used.
