San Vanelona is a carefully constructed paradise for skaters. There's a curb to Grind, an alley to Ollie or a quarter pipe to conquer at every turn. You could spend weeks casually cruising the city's expansive bounds. But you're not here to explore. You're here to make it big at what you do best.

There are two magazines where you can get the exposure you need: Skateboard Mag and Thrasher. To grace their pages you'll have to outdo the pros, and prove that your moves are worth their weight in ink. It's hard to make it to the top, and Skate is no exception. Technical tricks will make you want to trade your board for a pair of Rollerblades. The city's best skate spots will remain out of reach. Deathraces across town will leave you face down at the finish line.

In the end, the only thing between you and the pavement is your trusty deck and this Guide. So fear not. When you're with us, every gnar-gnar spill has a silver lining. So tighten those trucks and put on your best company logo, it's time to Skate!

Unlockable: Dem Bones

You can unlock a hidden character called Dem Bones by breaking each bone in your current character's body three times. Check the injury log to peek at your progress.

To unlock the special Best Buy clothing, type the following code in at the main menu: up, down, left, right, X, right bumper, Y, left bumper.

Unlockable: Danny Way's Mega Park

There's an unlockable skate park in the game called Danny Way's Mega Park. To unlock it, you must advance through all video and photo shoots that are relevant to achieving full sponsorship. Full sponsorship entails board, truck, and wheel sponsorship.

After you achieve full sponsorship status, you will receive an invitation to Danny Way's Mega Park. You'll need to compete there - and win - in order for it to be fully unlocked to use at any time. (unverified)

You don't have to get fully sponsored to get the invite to the compound. All you have to do is win the X-Games Competition and you'll get the invite. Just be sure to beat the game in order to earn the right to skate there whenever you want.

Hint: Win S-K-A-T-E Easily

If you're having a difficult time beating the pros in the game in a game of SKATE, try the following. Since the pro always goes first when you challenge them, keep resetting your game until the pro messes up his first trick.

At this point, you can break out some difficult tricks that will allow you to beat the pros each and everytime. Do a 540 spin in variations (Ollie 540s, Nollie 540s, Kickflips, Heelflips, et cetera). Doing this will defeat your opponents easily because they won't even attempt to repeat the hard trick you just did. Easy victory!
