Beta Version Debuts on www.On2.com

New York, NY, January 22, 2002 -- On2 Technologies Inc., The Duck Corporation (AMEX: ONT), the industry leader in video compression technology, announced VP4 for Real One and the RealPlayer is available at On2's website, www.on2.com.

On2 has developed a family of products specifically for RealNetworks' streaming architecture. The components of On2's VP4 for RealSystem include:

� VP4 for RealPlayer Plug-in Provides support in RealPlayer or RealOne for playback of files compressed with On2's VP4 video compression technology and AVC audio compression technology.
� VP4 for RealSystem Server Plug-in Provides support for streaming VP4 files using RealSystem 8 media servers (Windows 2000, NT).
� VP4 Encoder for Real On2's encoder software now encodes VP4 with AVC audio files that are supported in RealPlayer with On2's Real VP4 plug-in.

The combination of this VP4 software, and the large installed base of RealNetworks products, makes it easier than ever to stream On2's high-quality video over the Internet or private IP Networks.

The Beta version of VP4 for Real also marks the first public release of On2's AVC audio compression technology.

Once certified by RealNetworks, On2 will begin marketing its software with the RealNetworks systems.
